As ‘pon thine shoulders doest wear wings so shy
did thee not know; that thee can fly
Hath faith in thyself; as faith in thy father
he hath given thee wings; so thou would not falter
Take of mine hand as this promise I keep
thee I shall ne’er let fall; as no cloud be so steep
A timid blessing in delicate disguise
thou cannot hide all the light I see in thine eyes
With halo o’ gold; and stardust in hair
’tis a comfort to know thou art always there
Thus I watch o’er thee for all thou hast given
thus save a place by thy side
- In heaven
